Olympic torch to pass through Lewes

THE Olympic torch will pass through Lewes on Tuesday, July 17 – day 59 of its epic tour around the UK.

Having arrived in Brighton the previous evening, it will head north to Crawley before skirting east via East Grinstead and Tunbridge Wells, then south via Crowborough to Lewes, and finally along the coast to Eastbourne and Hastings.

For part of this journey the torch will be carried by Lewes resident David Bradford, subject to confirmation of his conditional offer. He has a degenerative eyesight condition and was nominated to be a torch-bearer by the charity RP Fighting Blindness.
