There were vibrant flowers and delicious jams and cakes on show at the Cuckmere Valley Horticultural Society annual summer show on Friday (August 9) and Saturday (August 10).
The show, which was the second held by the society this year, took place at Alfriston Village Hall.
The show was very well attended by society members, villagers, and tourists.
Organisers said although the number of exhibits was down on last year, due to the recent hot dry spell, the quality of the entries was outstanding, and the domestic classes of jams, cakes and chutneywere more popular than ever.
Ken Lloyd, from Seaford, was the outstanding fruit and vegetable competitor, winning 22 prizes in total.
He also won the prestigious Royal Horticultural Society’s Banksian Medal.
His trug of mixed garden produce won Best in Show.
Other cup and plaque winners were:- Màrk Hurst (men’s baking), Rene Wilde and Gill Butcher (domestic classes), Sheila Hamilton (pot plants), Anne Michael ( flowers), and Bridget O’Dell, (potatoes). Novice cups were won by Pyres Pennent and Paula Wilcox.
