Pedestrian suffers serious injuries after collision with car in Hailsham

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was in collision with a car near Hailsham.

The incident happened as the 77-year-old crossed the A271 Hawkswood Road at 12.30pm on Wednesday (December 11) at Amberstone, police said.

He was taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton suffering from serious but not life-threatening injuries.

He is currently being treated for fractures to his ankle, hip, pelvis and nose.

The driver of the Seat, a 20-year-old man from St Leonards, was not injured.

PC Stuart Ball from Sussex Police said: “I’d like to speak to anyone who saw the collision or the pedestrian or Seat Ibiza in the moments before it happened.

“If you were in the area and have any information please contact us.”
