Play area to be given a £10,000 facelift in East Saltdean

A play area in East Saltdean will be renovated thanks to a grant of almost £10,000.

The project will involve replacing some of the old wooden framed equipment with modern inclusive pieces at Robert Kingan playspace in Bannings Vale, East Saltdean.

Money came from the Big Lottery Fund, while Telsombe Town Council is match funding the offer.

Vice chairman of the town council’s amenities and Civic Centre Committee, cllr Andy Smith, said: “The council is delighted that the Big Lottery Fund has awarded us this grant and we look forward to developing and undertaking a scheme that will result in the best for the community and children of East Saltdean.”

Town clerk Martin Duckworth added: “The Robert Kingan playspace provides a safe community meeting place for young families and is an important environment for play and exercise.

“Much of the equipment is original and has reached the end of its life.In addition some of the equipment does not now offer the best play and exercise value.”

The town council said it was planning to complete the work this year. The Big Lottery distributes National Lottery good cause funding.
