Police release E-fit of footpath mugger

POLICE are appealing for help in tracing this youth in connection with the robbery of a 60-year-old woman.

The victim was walking on the Briscoe's Walk footpath at Summerfields during the early afternoon when the frightening incident happened.

She noticed a young man in an alcove and as she got nearer he tried to snatch her handbag.

A struggle ensued between them during which the woman was hit several times in the head by her assailant before he ran off with the bag.

He is described as white, of medium build with dark hair. He was wearing white clothing and riding a black bike.

The bag snatch took place Tuesday July 8.

Police are also investigating another incident on the same footpath which took pace on Friday June 27 involving a male of a similar description.
