POLICE RAID CANNABIS FACTORY

MORE than 450 cannabis plants were seized from a farm at Knowles Lane, Halland, during a dawn raid today (March 9).

A man and a woman both in their 40s were arrested for cultivation and abstracting electricity.

Thirteen Wealden police officers raided the farm just before 6am.

Police say the factory is one of the most high-tech and well organised they have seen.

The plants were being cultivated in outbuildings.

Officers were executing a search warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

The farm is believed to be worth about 500,000.

Chief Inspector Tony Blaker said: 'We are going to continue to crack down on people cultivating and dealing drugs in the Wealden District.

'Cultivating and supplying drugs remains a serious offence and can result in 14 years imprisonment and a fine.

'People in rural locations think they can get away with things like this without being detected but they can't.

Police are keen to hear from anyone who has suspicions about drugs being grown in the area.
