A public meeting will be held with Horder Healthcare about the services it plans to provide at Seaford Day Hospital.

Residents are being urged to attend and help shape the services they would like in the town.

The charity is taking over the redundant building and said it was looking forward tofinding out what the needs of the community were.

MP for Seaford Norman Baker said: “Seaford has been under resourced for too long.

“It is very reassuring to see Horder Healthcare, a group with a proven track record in the health sector, take on the operation of Seaford Day Hospital.

“This is a step in the right direction for health care in the town and a step towards getting facilities that are suitable for a town the size of Seaford.”

Horder Healthcare will discuss its plans for the future of the day hospital at the meeting on Tuesday February 25.

It has been organised by Seaford Town Council and will take place at 7pm at Seaford Baptist Church in Belgrave Road.

Horder Healthcare will refurbish the building and open it in the summer to provide services for the local population.

Chief executive of Horder Healthcare Diane Thomas said: “We are looking forward to talking to local people to determine local needs to ensure that our new facility is a real contribution to the community.”

Cllr Sam Adeniji, from Seaford Town Council, said: “We are pleased that Horder Healthcare have indicated their willingness to engage with us the people of Seaford.

“This meeting is an opportunity for us to help shape the provision of health services in Seaford .

“I encourage Seafordians to turn up to this meeting as it is vital that we avail ourselves of this opportunity to make Horder Healthcare aware of the health needs and priorities of our town.”

Representatives from the local GPs, the Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and mental health will also attend the event to answer any questions or concerns. Seaford MP Norman Baker will take part in the meeting too.
