Rise in district council tax

RESIDENTS will pay about 7p a week more in their district council tax from April.

The amount they pay for Mid Sussex District Council services such as rubbish collection and recycling will in increase by 2.5 per cent for 2010-11.

Band D homeowner will pay an increase of about 3.69 a year.

On top of that they will about 21 a week for county council services.

West Sussex Council, also Tory run, has also approved a 2.5 per cent increase. It accounts for about 80 per cent of the annual council tax bills.

Parish precepts and the Sussex Police authority precept are also added to bills, which are issued on behalf of all authorities by district councils and will be sent out next week.
