Scalextric race to raise cash for Mayfield Cricket Club

A VILLAGE CRICKET club is getting its 2009 season off to a racing start.

Mayfield Cricket Club plans a Scalextric fundraising and recruitment day on February 21 at Mayfield Memorial Hall.

The day will consist of racing and practice sessions with professional standard cars, more than 150 foot of four-lane track with digital timings, a pay to play track and a practice track.

There will be junior racing runs from 2pm followed by the adults' session from 5pm.

The scale speed on a large track will be in excess of 200mph.

Fastest lap times will earn a place in the grand final with top prizes at stake including a Scalextric Digital Triple Cup Race Set worth over 200 donated by Hornby Hobbies of Margate.

Entry for the event is limited to the first 64 children (5 each) and 64 adults (10 each) to register.
