The barn dance gets underway in Seaford.

A barn dance in Seaford in aid of a Brighton children’s hospice raised £400.

Around one hundred people attended the event which was organised by Seahaven Lioness Club and held at Seaford Constitutional Club on Friday March 8.

Money went to Leo House at Home Children’s Hospice Service.

This small local charity was founded by Brighton Lions Club and provides home visits and support by specialised nurses for children and young adults with life-limiting conditions, and also supports their families.

It was the first time the group had staged a barn dance and based on the success of the night, the Lionesses are already considering running another.

Brenda Gomersall, from Seahaven Lionesses, said: “The band and caller did a fantastic job and the Lionesses are most grateful to them for making the evening go so well.

“There were some interesting variations in some of the dances, but no-one minds at a Barn Dance – this is no Strictly Come Dancing!

“This was the first time the Lionesses had organised a barn dance, but hopefully it won’t be the last. Watch this space.”

At half time revellers enjoyed a ploughman’s supper.

Money was raised by barn dance ticket sales and supporting the raffle. The music and instruction was provided by the band Ded Efnik.
