Seaford motorbike fest this weekend

MORE than 300 motorbikes are expected to roar into Seaford as the town's second Bike Fest revs into action.

The family day will also include classic cars, a fairground and live music at the Martello Fields on Sunday, August 22.

And money raised on the day will be helping numerous good causes, including the Mayor's charities and local groups.

The Mayor's secretary Paula Woolven said: "I'm really hoping that it is as successful as last year's event with former Mayor Tracy Willis.

"We are hoping lots of people will come down so it's a fun-filled community event.

"I'm really looking forward to the music and we are supporting the youth in town."

This year up to 100 classic cars are expected to attend the event, which runs from 10am to 4pm.

Bands will perform live from noon to 4pm, including The Riffs, The Officials and Juno, who performed at the recent Soundwave Festival.

There will be around 30 stalls, with some of them raising funds for community groups.

Hundreds of people are expected to descend on Seaford for the popular event, which is now in its second year.

It was started by ex Seaford Mayor Tracy Willis, who will be selling biker pins in aid of a biker's rehabilitation charity to support motorcyclists who were injured during accidents.

A ride out will kick off the festival.Bikers will meet in the McDonald's car park in Newhaven at 11.30am before moving off to reach the Bike Fest around midday.

Seaford Mayor Bob Allen will be seeing offf the ride out.

He will be joined by Peacehaven Mayor Chris Ogden, Newhaven Mayor Graham Amy, High Sheriff of East Sussex Deborah Bedford and Lieutenant of East Sussex Colonel Chris Blessington.

Cllr Allen will be revisiting his youth – he regularly rode a scooter to his teaching job in Kent in the seventies, sometimes giving a lift to his wife.

He still harks back to his motorised roots as he now rides a part electric-powered bicycle around Seaford.

Mayoress Jill Allen said: "I'm looking forward to seeing all the bikes and classic cars, and hope that the day raises a lot of money for the Mayor's charities, but I don't think I will be accepting any more lifts."
