Show off your skills in Seaford art competition

SEAFORD is to hold its first open art exhibition at the Crypt Gallery from November 10 to 15.

Residents are being encouraged to submit art work with the chance of winning a top prize of £100 and exhibiting their work in the Crypt Gallery.

Entry to the competition costs £5 for up to two works (free for any junior artist under 16).

There is a £100 cash prize for the winning adult entry and a special trophy for the junior prize winner.

People who have never exhibited are particularly encouraged to enter the competition.

Work will be hung by volunteers from the Crypt Gallery committee.

The beautiful medieval undercroft space below the main gallery will also be used to show work.

There will be free entry for visitors to the final exhibition.

Paintings will be selected by three of the existing committee members; Nicky Auster, Keith Allfrey and Brian Millar.

All three live in the Seaford area and have a background in the arts.

“We are really hoping to get a wide selection of entries to choose from. In my experience it is such a thrill to have work selected and shown,” said Keith.

“A lot of work will be available to buy but the main purpose is to showcase the creative talent of people that live in and around the town,” said Nicky.

“I’m really looking forward to the event and encourage local residents to come along and have a look at the artwork,” said Brian.

“So many people say they have never been in the Crypt Gallery - which is a shame as it is a real Seaford gem.”

The exhibition will be open from 10am to 4pm.
