STRONG LEADS AFTER MAIL HI-JACK

POLICE have had a 'positive response' from the public in their hunt for men who stole two mail vans in Uckfield.

The robbers took the vans and dumped them soon afterwards. They had only removed specific, potentially valuable items.

One van was hi-jacked at Ringles Cross and the other was stolen on the Bellbrook Industrial Estate.

The raiders struck on Thursday, December 22.

This week police said a number of 'significant witnesses' had been identified and those people are currently helping with police inquiries.

They are in the process of producing CD images.

Sussex Police are now in contact with other police forces and a particular man is being sought thanks to intelligence reports.

They are hoping to obtain information about the incident, particularly any knowledge of the owner or whereabouts of a blue VW Bora, registration number: Y354 ULC.

Although it is not believed that any weapons were used police still stress the importance of not approaching anyone believed to be connected to the crime.

Information please to DC Benjamin Donovan on: 0845 60 70 999 quoting serial number: 375/22.12.05.
