Students from Tideway School will be putting their best foot forward when they complete a sponsored walk on Friday September 27.
The event will see them set off on a nine mile round walk from Newhaven to Seaford in aid of two local charities,
This year they will be raising money for Haydyn’s Wish and the James Daniels Memorial Fund.
Tideway School head teacher Rob Corbett said: “It is great to see the students engage so positively with the sponsored walk. It gives them an opportunity to put something back.”
The sponsored walk is a time honoured Tideway tradition stretching back for more than 30 years.
The walk raises money for local charities that have a personal link with the students at the school, with the beneficiaries changing each year.
Both Haydn’s Wish and the James Daniels Memorial Fund were started after the untimely deaths of two local boys.
Their families and friends have raised money to make a positive impact on the local community and help young people in Newhaven.
Assistant head teacher Mark Newham-Reeve said: “It’s one thing to talk about doing something, but it is much better to get up and do something positive! It is great to see our students walk the talk.”
