Students learn art of applying for jobs

Students from Beacon Community College, Crowborough; Willingdon Community Schook; Tideway School, Newhaven and Priory School, Lewes took part in employment workshops at Eastbourne Town Hall last week.

More than 15 employers gave mock interviews to the 45 14 to 15-year-olds and ran workshops on writing CVs, apprenticeships, volunteering and dealing with finance.

A 'What's My Line' session gave students the chance to question employers and work out their roles which included an architect, a bookkeeper, a councillor, a bank manager and a care home manager.

The event was organised by Connexions 360 Education Business Partnership under contract to East Sussex County Council.
