T-shirt Fashion Show to mark World AIDS Day
A T-shirt Fashion Show was held at Bar-Celona on Monday night (1st December) to mark World AIDS Day.
A total of 24 T-shirts had been designed by members of the public and were displayed in a catwalk fashion parade.
The event was organised by the World AIDS Day Action Group, which includes several local community organisations and judged by Lynsey Bartlett from The Breakfast Show on Southern FM, who was amazed at the high standard of entries.
The winner was Kerry Blackford who is 16 and lives in Ore. Kerry is currently a student at Bexhill College studying Textiles, Photography and ICT and said: "I entered the competition, not thinking about winning, but I wanted people to realise how serious HIV still is and how it can effect anyone."
All the T-shirts were auctioned at the end of the event.
A spokesperson for the Action Group said "We're very touched by the genuine support the event has received by so many members of the public and the efforts of those on the Action Group. Thanks also to the management and staff of Bar-Celona who produced an amazing buffet and supported the project from the start, and Positive Rights, who donated the iPOD for the winner."
