Tackling problems caused by commuter parking in Lewes street
A big step towards resolving the problem of people using a
Lewes street as a car park was taken this week.
Local Independent Councillor Ruth O’Keeffe held what she described as a “highly productive” meeting with residents of Barn Hatch Close and East Sussex County Council officers.
A council spokesman said, “Due to the residents’ concerns regarding commuter parking, Barn Hatch Close was included in the Lewes Parking Review. The approved restrictions include extending the double yellow lines to a distance of 10 metres into Barn Hatch Close from its junction with Brighton Road and to add single yellow lines in order to prevent parking during the day. In a recent meeting with some of the residents we have agreed to monitor the changes and make any necessary amendments in a year’s time after further consultation.”
