The Lambrettas to headline Peacehaven music festival

Cult Mod band The Lambrettas will headline Peacehaven’s community music festival this summer at Piddinghoe Avenue Sports Park.

The guitar group reached number 7 in the UK charts with Poison Ivy and number 12 with Dance, in 1980.

It is being organised by Peacehaven Town Council and will showcase local bands and acts when it takes place on Saturday June 22.

Chair of the town council’s music festival working party cllr Rachael Coles said: “We want this to be a really enjoyable community event that involves local people, local bands and local businesses, we are also delighted that Southern Water have agreed to sponsor this event.”

The festival is being held in partnership with Southern Water.

The town council is looking for local music businesses to exhibit and sell goods and services.

There will be refreshment stands and a number of music related activities and workshops.

Visitors can also expect a small fun fair and sports activities.

Southern Water spokesperson Madeline Stoneman said: “We are delighted to sponsor this event which is to say a big thank you to all residents in the town for their patience and support over the last three years during the construction of the new works.

“We look forward to being involved in what we hope will be a fantastic event for the whole community to enjoy.”

If you are a local band, provide musical activities and workshops or are a music related business, or would like a stall at the event, contact Kevin Kingston on 01273 575123 or Steve Keogh on 01273-575122 at Peacehaven Town Council.

Southern Water built the waste water treatment works in Peacehaven on land at Hoddern Farm.
