Three arrested on suspicion of Uckfield High Street arson

POLICE have arrested three people today (Tuesday September 4) on suspicion of arson following the major fire in Uckfield High Street on Sunday night.
A man aged 18 and two 17-year-old boys, all from Uckfield, are currently in custody awaiting questioning after being arrested for arson with intent to endanger lives.
At around 11pm on Sunday a fire was started behind the charity shop Sense.
The fire caused significant damage to several buildings and meant that nearby residents were evacuated.
The High Street and surrounding roads were closed to allow investigation work to be carried out and so that the buildings can be made safe.
