TIP INFERNO: update on temp facilities
The opening hours and facilities of the temporary weekend site where Crawley residents can dispose of household rubbish will be extended from this weekend (Saturday July 12 and Sunday July 13).
The site – which is next to the one that was severely damaged by fire last month – will now be open on Saturdays and Sundays between 9am and 5pm. The previous closing time was 3pm.
It will also be accepting, from this weekend, the following materials for recycling:
Green waste.
Textiles.
Plastics and cans.
Glass bottles.
Large and small electrical appliances.
Soil and hardcore.
Fridges and freezers.
TVs.
Fluorescent tubes and low energy light bulbs.
Batteries.
Tyres.
The site still cannot accept:
Chemicals.
Gas bottles.
Used engine oil.
Cement bonded asbestos.
Wood.
As before, the site is only for household rubbish brought in by cars, vans and small trailers – 200 kg per vehicle. It still cannot accept:
Large trailers.
Transit vans of any size.
Over height vehicles (barriers still in place).
'Walking in' waste.
