Tree planting will mark Queen’s Jubilee in Peacehaven
PEACEHAVEN Mayor Eileen Russell will plant a tree to commemorate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee on Thursday May 31.
The ceremony will take place at 10am on Thursday May 31 in Greenwich Way.
It will sit alongside other commemorative trees which were planted here in memory of Daniel Prior and Peacehaven mayor Chris Ogden, as well as to remember the Holocaust.
Peacehaven soldier Daniel Prior was wounded by an improvised explosive device on March 17 last year in Afghanistan, but died of his injuries the next day.
A tree was planted in the 27-year-old paratrooper’s memory in March 2011 by Peacehaven Town Council.
The former mayor of Peacehaven Chris Ogden died in April 2011.
The council planted a flowering cherry tree to remember him.
