Two-car collision: police appeal

POLICE have made an appeal for witnesses after a two-car collision near Pevensey yesterday, February 4.

It happened on the A27 eastbound carriageway - near a lay-by on the right hand side, underneath a bridge.

A silver Vauxhall Astra and a red Renault Clio collided at 7.45am.

Both drivers – a 34-year-old woman from Hailsham and a 29-year-old man from Eastbourne were injured.

They were taken by ambulance to Eastbourne District General Hospital for treatment.

Police said the drivers' injuries were serious but not life threatening.

A police spokesman said: "Officers from the Polegate Road Policing Unit are currently investigating the cause of the collision and would like to hear from anyone who saw what happened who has not yet come forward."
