UPDATE: human remains at popular Seaford beauty spot were young man
A POST mortem revealed the body found near a Seaford car park was a man in his 20s.
Officers believe it may be the remains of a missing person and are not treating the death as suspicious.
Police believe the body lay hidden in undergrowth for a number of years until a dog walker made the grisly discovery.
The human remains were uncovered at around 7pm on Friday March 12 on a popular walking path just off Alfriston Road.
Police closed the car park to the public and examined the area for clues.
The body was taken away from the High and Over beauty spot at around 12:45pm on Saturday March 13.
Officers cannot give the cause of death at this stage.
The man was described as about 5ft10 and of a slim to medium build.
A spokesperson for Sussex Police said: "Enquiries to establish the identity of the body and the cause of death are continuing.
"One line of enquiry is that this is a missing person from some years ago.
"An inquest has been opened and adjourned, and enquiries continue into establishing the man's identity and the cause of his death."
