UPDATE: Peacehaven house fire

A CAT was found trapped under floorboards when fire fighters used thermal imaging cameras to check for hot spots at a house fire in Peacehaven this morning (Friday August 31).

Crews from East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service released the cat, which is now safely back with its owner.

Fire fighters were called to the scene in The Lookout at 6.10am, sending crews from Roedean and Newhaven.

Crews found the loft space well alight and two more fire engines from Seaford and Roedean were also sent to the incident.

Fire fighters brought the blaze under control.

There were two women and a man in the property at the time.

Barcombe Fire Station sent a relief crew and spotted the cat using thermal imaging.

One fire engine is currently on site to ensure the fire stays out.
