VOTE: Heene Terrace garden transformed – pictures

WHAT a difference six months make.

At the beginning of the year, residents of Heene Terrace, in Worthing, were up in arms over the ripping up of lawns and flower beds fronting the imposing mid-Victorian facade.

Council contractors had just started a 60,000 make-over of the traditional and much-loved format to make way for a less labour-intensive design which wouldn't require frequent watering.

Other people also criticised the emerging new look, and now the completed job gives people a chance to give their final verdict on the scheme.

This picture, taken from the Burlington Hotel, gives a marvellous view of the reshaped lawn areas, floral attractions, drought-resistant trees and shrubs – and the seats from which to enjoy it all.
