FRIENDS, family and colleagues who took part in the Seaford Half Marathon in memory of Peacehaven paratrooper Daniel Prior have raised more than £1,200.

Money is going into a fund for Daniel’s son Logan, who was just a few weeks old when his father was killed by an improvised explosive device in Afghanistan.

The run was organised on Facebook by Daniel’s friends Chris Hearn and Jamie Linkson and attracted 100 participants, including 65 paratroopers.

Chris, 26, of Bolney Avenue, Peacehaven, said: “It went really well. Everybody put in an amazing effort.

“It was a really good atmosphere. One of the paras was carrying 50 pounds and he came in just over two hours.

“I never expected it to be that much money and that many people to take part.”

Runners wore t-shirts with Daniel’s picture on them at the event in June.

Private Daniel Prior, 27, was from Peacehaven and went to Tideway School in Newhaven.

He was wounded on March 17 this year, but died of his injuries the next day.

Daniel was serving with the 2nd Battalion Parachute Regiment in Helmand province.
