There are long delays in Lewes after a lorry collided with a historic building earlier this morning (Tuesday).

Lewes High Street is partially blocked with queuing traffic in both directions between the A2029 Fisher Street junction and the A275 Nevill Road junction.

The lorry is understood to have collided with a window of the Bull House, the former home of the philosopher Thomas Paine, causing minor damage.

Firefighters are at the scene to make the area safe and to prevent falling debris.

Police are directing traffic around the incident.
