THE DEAD BODIES of a man and woman believed to be Cardiff residents have been found at the bottom of Beachy Head cliffs.

A police investigation has been launched into the deaths of the 58-year-old man and 81-year-old woman.

They were discovered at the bottom of the cliffs by coatguard at 11.15am on Wednesday, March 21.

First the man was found and then the body of the woman was spotted a short distance away.

They are thought to have arrived at Beachy Head around 8.30am in a black Vauxhall Vectra car.

The car was found parked in the car park at the top of the cliffs.

Detective Inspector Mark O’Brien said: “We are trying to establish the exact circumstances of these sad deaths.

“We would like to speak to anyone who may have seen the couple on or near Beachy Head at any time on Wednesday morning.

“We think that they may have stayed locally the night before and again would like to hear from anyone who may have seen them.”
