Man attacked in Hailsham town centre

POLICE are investigating a reported assault on a 45-year old local man in Hailsham in the early hours of Saturday, June 23.

The man reported that he had been attacked by two unknown men near the junction of South Road and North Street in Hailsham town centre shortly after 2am.

He was taken to Eastbourne District General Hospital and treated for injuries, including a fractured jaw, and was discharged the folllowing day.

Detective Constable Andrew Mountford-Laker said: “Nothing was reported stolen and no weapons are said to have been involved, but this was a nasty attack that has caused serious injury to the victim.

“Anyone who was in the area or who has any other information which might help is asked to contact us via 101 quoting serial 0267 of June 23.
