POLICE have identified the man who was tragically found dead in the River Ouse at Hamsey, Lewes, on Tuesday last week.
He is Dennis Boddy, 64, from Redhill, Surrey.
Mr Boddy’s death is not being treated as suspicious. A post mortem has taken place and further tests are being carried out to ascertain just how he died.
A police spokesman said: “We are investigating the circumstances of Mr Boddy’s tragic death and are keen to talk to anyone who may have seen him in the days before he was found.
“We know he had been staying at a hotel in Brighton but would like to know his whereabouts since he left the hotel on Saturday [March 10].
“By issuing his description we hope that people may have seen him in the days before his death.
“I would ask them to come forward with any information they have.”
Mr Boddy was wearing black clothing, including boots, short jacket, scarf, jeans and carried two rucksacks. He had grey short hair, was 5ft 9in tall and of medium build.
