Man who died in collision with lorry in Newhaven named

A man who died after he was in collision with a lorry has been named as 35-year-old Peter Knight.

Mr Knight, of Powell Gardens, Newhaven, was in collision with the lorry just after 10am on Friday (December 19) near the junction with the A26 New Road and the B2109 Avis Road at South Heighton. He died at the scene.

A post-mortem has confirmed he died after suffering multiple injuries.

A 65-year-old man from Bishopstone who was also struck remains in hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the red dropside DAF lorry, a man from Kent, was uninjured. He was driving south on the A26 when the incident occurred.
