Meeching Valley School in Newhaven raises money for breast cancer charity

PUPILS and staff at Meeching Valley Primary School in Newhaven raised £202.50 during Breast Cancer Awareness Month by dressing in pink.

They paid a £1 to be in the pink on Friday October 21 when they arrived at school in Valley Road.

Money was also raised by selling pink cupcakes and sweets.

One of the school’s parents, Lisa Ratcliffe, who is pictured centre, has been receiving treatment for breast cancer.

Head teacher Davina Wakelin said: “It’s very close to home so we wanted to pull out all the stops to raise money for a worthy cause.”

Breast Cancer Awareness Month was marked nationwide during October.
