Police are seeking witnesses to an incident in Chyngton Road, Seaford, in which a 27-year-old local man was assaulted by a motorist.

The attack took place at around 8.30pm on Tuesday (October 20) when the victim, who had been walking home, approached the assailant’s car.

He was in a black Volkswagen and had been shouting at a woman and two children in the street, prompting the victim to try to intervene.

The driver, a heavily built, 6’ Asian man, got out of his car and struck his victim in the face, causing a cut and bruising, before returning to his vehicle and driving off towards Seaford Golf Club.

Anyone who saw the incident or who may have other information that may help identify the suspect is asked to contact police.

They should email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or phone 101, quoting serial 1454 of 20/10.

Alternatively they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers without having to leave their name on 0800 555 111.
