Around £1,000 was donated to two charities after Willingdon and Jevington Parish Council held a successful music event.
Music in the Park raised enough money for donations to The JPK project and Canine Partners, both of which received £500 each.
John Pritchett, who is chairman of Willingdon and Jevington Parish Council, and Cllr Christina Lynn said they were delighted to present the cheques to the charities.
Cllr Pritchett said: “It is always a pleasure to support local charities through our community events. We have a very supportive core group of councillors always willing to put themselves out to make sure such events go well and for their help I am very grateful.”
Members of the Events Committee also agreed to donate a contribution to St John Ambulance, which has supported parish council events.
Claire Graham, who is trustee of Canine Partners and partnered with canine partner Uli, thanked the parish council for the donation. She said: “This will help us purchase a puppy. He or she when fully trained will transform someones life with a physical disability.”
Jill Parker, of JPK Sussex Project, said: “An enjoyable Music in the Park event enabled the parish council to make this wonderful donation. It will help to kick start our major fundraising to commence building a supported living centre for people with a learning difficulty in Eastbourne and the surrounding areas.”
