Traders and residents met to discuss the future of Pevensey, Westham and Pevensey Bay last week and are now looking to set up a community group to help generate ideas to improve the villages.
Cllr Lin Clark brought the idea of forming a community group, inspired by the Wealden District Council project Streets Ahead, to come up with ideas to improve and regenerate the villages.
To kick start the Pevensey group, Zoe Clarke and Michelle Gray, two of Wealden’s Regeneration team looking after the Streets Ahead project, talked about how communities are working to improve their towns and villages all over the district.
Cllr Clark said a good list of ideas came from the meeting, and everyone was keen to go away and encourage other traders and community leaders to join in.
Cllr Clark said: “The meeting was very positive and productive, and everyone was eager to move to the formation of a working group as quickly as possible.
“There is another meeting being held at The Smugglers Pub, in Pevensey, on April 14 at 6pm when we will be deciding on our name and will be looking at our working programme.
“This is a community project for the community and by the community.”
If any businesses, clubs, or individuals would like to join the group or would like more information get in touch with Cllr Clark on 01323 768530.
Cllr Clark added: “It is after all about keeping our villages alive for generations to come.”
