A new gallery has opened in Alfriston, in the same spot as the Alfriston Gallery which shut five months ago.
Alfriston Arts opened on November 8 and features the work of established and emerging local artists as well as a range of British made gift and home ware.
Gallery owner Vanessa Langley, herself a graphic designer and illustrator, spotted the gallery had closed only in September of this year.
She said she was sad when she saw the former gallery had closed and decided to bring it back to life.
She said: “It’s always sad to see an empty shop in a high street and especially in a tiny village like Alfriston.
“I very quickly decided I would do what I could to bring it back to life and it seemed the universe agreed, as everything fell into place very quickly and I signed the lease a month later and was open within three weeks.”
Alfriston Arts plans to keep a core of local artists’ work permanently available but also keep the gallery fresh with a calendar of mini exhibitions throughout the year and welcomes submissions from local artists for consideration.
They currently have works by Helen Brown, Hettie Pittman, Tanya Gomez, Chiara Vagnarelli and Guy Stevens as well as jewellery by Chiara Bianchi, and Annie Gould.
Alfriston Arts is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 11am until 5pm.
