The new look Tesco Extra store in St Leonards marked its re-launch with a charity donation and customer celebrations in store.

St Michael’s Hospice, based in Upper Maze Hill, was nominated to receive a £500 Tesco community donation.

Irene Dibben, hospice chairman, joined store manager, Michael Starr, to cut a ribbon and declare the building works complete and the store officially re-opened, before customers enjoyed a glass of champagne and slice of cake.

The hospice was also awarded 1,000 hessian shopping bags, designed with its logo, which were given away to customers as part of the celebrations.

Irene said: “We are delighted the Hastings Tesco Extra store chose St Michael’s Hospice to receive this donation which will go towards the cost of patient care. We are most grateful to Tesco for its support.”

Store manager Michael said: “We have really enjoyed our store re-launch celebrations and I would like to thank Irene for joining us and our customers for their patience during the disruption in store. Customers are really enjoying all the new ranges and departments we have added, especially the new Decks restaurant.”
