A new store has opened in Priory Meadow, creating 15 new jobs.

Deichmann, which stocks men’s, women’s and children’s shoes, as well as bags and accessories, opened in the shopping centre last Tuesday (March 3).

This is very positive news for Priory Meadow and Hastings

The unit underwent a complete, £364,000 refurbishment before opening. Deichmann has 89 stores in the UK and 3,700 world-wide.

Andy Thompson, store manager, said: “We have had a terrific reception here in Hastings. We are very pleased to be here and thrilled to have been able to help create new jobs.”

John Hough, manager of Priory Meadow Shopping Centre, said: “Deichmann is a welcome addition to our footwear offer within the centre and clearly very popular with our customers.

“With other lease agreements either done or close to completion on a further two units in the mall, we are another step closer to being fully let. This is very positive news for Priory Meadow and Hastings.”

Stuart Mitchell, asset manager at New River Retail, said: “Having acquired Priory Meadow in August 2014, we were delighted to secure Deichmann as well as Schuh which is now also about to open.

“These are representative of the improving quality of retailer that we plan to introduce.”
