IMPROVED public transport services in Hailsham will be the focus of a new passenger user group called the Hailsham and District Passenger User Group (HADPUG).
Independent of councils and passenger transport operators, HADPUG aims to improve public transport services in the town and increase the influence of bus users in the local area.
The passenger user group will have a seat at all meetings of the Quality Bus Partnership and will consult the wider public on such issues as frequency and reliability of bus services, bus shelters, timetables, digital information, ticketing and new bus routes.
The group is actively seeking new members with an interest in local public transport services and will hold its next meeting at Hailsham Town Council offices at 7pm on September 13. Members of the public are invited to attend the meeting, including non-members who are interested in joining.
Town Cllr Barry Marlowe said: “The formation of the Hailsham Passenger User Group will help drive forward public transport improvements in the town, with a particular focus on passenger expectations. I encourage people to join this group to ensure that they have their say.”
Membership of the Hailsham passenger user group is free. Download an application form at www.hailsham-tc.gov.uk/qbs.html or phone 01323 841702 to have a form posted to you. Further background information can be found on the town council website.
