Work to repair water pipes on Hestmnonceux is set to start on January 3.
South East Water postponed the £127,000 scheme after traders expressed fears it would hit Christmas trade.
Work to replace 530 metres of water main in Gardner Street between West End and Chapel Row could take until the end of April to complete.
James Smith, delivery manager for South East Water, said: “Unfortunately while we are laying the new water main through the village we will need to stop vehicles parking along Gardner Street. We have arranged for alternative parking in the village for the first three weeks of the scheme to enable customers to continue visiting the local shops.”
