Lifeboat crews in Newhaven were called out late at night on Monday (September 7) to search for a mission person.
The RNLI’s relief Severn Class lifeboat ‘RNLB Daniel L Gibson’ and her volunteer crew were launched at 11.55pm.
The alarm was raised following a 999 call after a man had climbed the gate on Newhaven’s sandy West Beach with the intent to enter the water, after a domestic argument.
Newhaven lifeboat launched its inflatable Y boat which searched from the Hope Inn public house to the western sandy beach, along the West Breakwater and across to the East Pier.
The main lifeboat used its spot lights to search from the Hope Inn, both sides of the West Breakwater plus down and back to Old Nore which is part way to Peacehaven.
The missing man was found safe and well by Sussex Police and the lifeboat was stood down at 12.45am yesterday (Tuesday, September 8).
The lifeboat then returned to station at 1am and was ready for service again at 1.35am.
