A ‘SERIAL volunteer’ who helps Denton and South Heighton Junior Football Club could be in line for a national award.

Newhaven grandmother of four Marilyn Nolan is in the final of the What’s On 4 Me 2012 Awards for Volunteer Of The Year.

Marilyn, 66, has volunteered for the club for eight years, selling refreshments every weekend, acting as treasurer and committee member and raising thousands to support the club her grandson, Kyle Woolven, plays for.

She volunteers for Seaford Musical Theatre as front of house manager and for Peacehaven Seniors Forum as secretary.

Marilyn has been the area collector for charity boxes in shops and clubs for more than 15 years and supports the Mayor of Seaford’s charity fund.

Nominator Sam Shippen wrote: “Marilyn is a serial volunteer for a wide range of organisations and charities in her local area. I don’t know how she finds time to do so much.

“I cannot think of anyone who deserves a volunteer of the year award more than Marilyn Nolan.”
