Nutley sets the date for Queen’s Diamond Jubilee village party

NUTLEY villagers are preparing for their celebration of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee next year.

Saturday, June 2 has been chosen for a big village party, followed by the village day on the last Saturday in June.

The band, Evening Star which played at the last party, has been booked for the event.

Organisers hope local people will pitch in with ideas and help.

They want as many involved as possible with events throughout the afternoon and evening.

Peter Harris said: “By involving the community we may be able to apply for a grant to go towards the costs of celebrations.

“We might want some extra entertainment for the young children, something for those who prefer an afternoon event or perhaps a small firework display in the evening.”

The first meeting of the Queen’s Jubilee sub-committee will be held at 8pm on Monday, November 14 in the Memorial Hall conference room. Everyone is invited to attend.
