FUN LOVING older people packed into the lounge at St Mary’s Church in Hailsham to enjoy a ‘Holiday @ Home’ event.

A total of 26 people came each day from August 2 to 4.

The idea was to give older people in the town, who for various reasons have not gone on a leisure vacation this Summer, a chance to enjoy a holiday-type break at the church.

One computer game proved very popular for the techno-savvy older group - a ‘Wii’ game kept some of them absorbed.

Artistic skills were also shown via various craft activities and there were quizzes and table football.

Plenty of tea, coffee and cakes were served.

In the afternoon a guided tour was given of the Hailsham Heritage Centre with all its fascinating exhibits on display.

A light lunch described as ‘very tasty’ was served each day.

The Vicar, Rev David Bourne, gave a ‘Thought for the Day’ before the tasty tucker.
