OPERATION Vortex, the road safety campaign run by Sussex Road Policing Unit in Wealden last month was a great success.
It was held on Wednesday, April 27 around Uckfield to promote road safety by targeting motorists who flout road traffic laws.
On the day of Operation Vortex the road policing team seized one motor vehicle for no insurance and issued two endorsable fixed penalty notices for £200, again for no insurance. Fifteen fixed penalty notices were issued for varying offences along with fourteen endorsable fixed penalty notices.
The road policing team also offered seven speed awareness courses to motorists who were exceeding the speed limit, rather than having their licenses endorsed.
Sgt Amy Mason of the Wealden neighbourhood policing team said: “Dealing with speeding is a priority in Wealden and particularly in Uckfield. This is an excellent way to get an important message across to motorists that we will not tolerate antisocial or illegal motoring.”
