Parents should be more responsible when picking children up from school, say police

SEAFORD Police are urging parents to be more responsible when dropping off or picking up children from school.

Sergeant Chris Veale from Seaford Police said: “Whilst I appreciate the need for parents to collect or drop off their children it causes a great deal of problems, not only due to congestion but more importantly a safety issue where children cannot be seen by approaching motorists due to vehicles parked in an obstructive manner on junction corners as well as on yellow zigzags or double yellow lines.

“We have begun an active campaign around schools to stop dangerous parking”

Sergeant Veale said police were issuing Fixed Penalty Notices and formal letters of advice to those parked in a dangerous or obstructive manner.
