Parkour - police concern

TWO YOUNGSTERS will be approached by police to discuss how to have fun in a safer way – after a website video showed youths ‘free running’ around sites in Hailsham.

The video, uploaded at the end of May, shows the young people jumping on-and-off walls, roofs and various buildings in the town – following the ‘Parkour’ sport.

Parkour, also known as free running, involves fast athletic movements around stationary objects such as buildings.

Wealden NPT Jamie Harwood said: “Free running is becoming more and more popular. When done in a controlled environment with supervision this can be an excellent way to increase fitness.

“We have viewed the footage and will attempt to identify the individuals involved so that we can discuss more appropriate places for them to free run in a safe and secure environment.”
