Peacehaven motorcyclist dies in M23 collision

AN APPEAL for witnesses was launched after a Peacehaven motorcyclist died in a pile up on the M23.

The fatal collision happened at 6.10am on Saturday January 8 on the northbound side of the motorway.

The crash involved the 52-year-old biker and five other vehicles travelling in the same direction, just past junction 10am at the Maidenbower interchange.

Sussex Police confirmed the motorcyclist died at the scene.

The motorway had to be closed both north and southbound for several hours whilst emergency services and the Highways Agency attended.

The drivers of the other vehicles, three cars and two vans, were unhurt, and their vehicles did not sustain serious damage.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: “We are asking anyone who saw this tragic collision, or what led up to it.”
