Peacehaven and Telscombe Scout Group is hoping to raise a whopping £20,000 to buy two new minibuses but is appealing for support from the public.
The group started fundraising about a year ago and has already amassed an impressive £3,000.
Amongst the activities the scouts have planned to generate more cash are a raffle at this year’s annual general meeting and a cake sale at the Christmas Mini Market in Peacehaven on December 1.
They are also hoping to stage a book sale and a jumble sale next year.
Fundraising committee member Michele Easton said: “So far we have had some donations from local councils and businesses, but the main bulk of the money raised to date has been from activities such as a car wash, a raffle at last year’s annual general meeting and food sales at last year’s bonfire party.
“Our beavers, cubs and scouts have been trying very hard to fundraise enough money to purchase some new minibuses but really need the public support in order to achieve this.”
The two 17 seater minibuses will be used by all six sections within the group.
There are more than 100 members of Peacehaven and Telscombe Scout Group.
The target figure is based on purchase price, signwriting, tax, insurance and running costs for the first year on the road.
Donations can be sent to cub scout leader Alex Howell.Email firstname.lastname@example.org or phone 07798635156 with cheques made payable to PTCSG MINI BUS FUND.
