UCKFIELD is busy gearing up for sensational celebrations to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
The group organising the events to celebrate the Jubilee met two weeks ago to hone its plans for the activities on Monday, June 4.
The main event will be held on the Victoria Pleasure Ground, starting at 6pm with a procession from the town centre arriving at 8pm.
The event will finish at around 9.30pm after a beacon is lit and the National Anthem has been sung.
Organisers are looking for talented local entertainers and entertainment groups to appear live on stage at the main event in slots of up to 15 minutes each.
Anyone or any group interested in appearing on stage should contact Ian Smith at: firstname.lastname@example.org or ring: 01825 766360 by Friday, February 24.
Ian and his team are also hoping that the end of the event can be marked with a fireworks display, but sponsors are still being sought.
Again, anyone interested in sponsoring should contact Ian.
The procession will leave Elizabeth Gardens at 7.30pm and local residents can take part if they wish.
Organisers have asked that people wear red, white and blue or any combination of colours for procession and that they carry a lantern. Anyone under the age of 16 would need to be accompanied by a responsible adult.
A prince and princess fancy dress competition will be held when the procession arrives at the Victoria Pleasure Ground.
Retail outlets in the town are to be asked to dress their front windows for the occasion in the four weeks leading up to the event.
